Invitation To Come
by: Maxine M
"There's a letter for you," Mother said. Jane wondered who it could be from
A beautiful card from her friend Jill said...I'm having a party, please COME
Her friend had invited HER, wanted HER THERE...happily, she began to hum
Out for a ride in the country, they realized friends lived just down the road about a mile
Suppose it would be alright to stop and visit for awhile?
A knock at the door brought a "COME on in" with a big sincere smile
The new girl at school didn't really want to go to lunch alone
But an invitation to "Come sit with us", and a new light in her eyes shone
A simple gesture...but now her confidence had suddenly grown
Down a quiet country lane, was a little antique shop with relics of the past
An old fashioned cottage, a lamp in the window...an inviting glow cast
A simple sign on the door said, COME in and relax...don't live life so fast
Polly was enthralled at the new toy display, suddenly Mother had vanished without a trace
"What's wrong?" a concerned clerk asked. "I'm lost" she said with tears running down her face
The lady said "COME with me", soon she was back in Mother's embrace
The dog cowered under the porch when he saw lightening strike a tree
Then he heard his master's voice say "Come here boy, COME here to me!"
His love and obedience overcame fear of the danger he could see
Down at the creek, Jack was teaching little brother how to fish...since he was a beginner
Mother called "COME home now, it's nearly time for dinner"
The race was on, the first one home was considered the big winner
COME to my wedding & rejoice with me in the new life I seek
COME to my child's graduation, please COME to church with me next weeek
COME see my new baby...just take a peek
So you see, COME is an invitation to move from THERE to HERE
COME, a pleasant command...when falling on a welcome ear
Jesus used this invitation often, to calm distress and fear
"COME to Me all who labor and are heavy laden. I'll give you rest"
Rest for your soul--Inner Peace--the kind that's best
COME to Me! Find the love and strength to handle life's trials and test
All who thirst, COME to the water, COME to the "Water of Life"...freely drink
COME for bread, eat...you who have no money, COME. COME, you on the emotional brink
Incline your ear, COME to Me and live!...an awesome deal, don't you think?
John was invited to COME up Here, view the future's final days
See all the horrifying things that will happen in the earth's tribulation phase
But also the beauty of Heaven, and how ALL who are THERE, will give constant worship and praise
To all, the invitation stands, "COME follow Me...I AM THE WAY"
No one comes to the Father without accepting My invitation to COME & obey
BELIEVE!!, only My death & resurrection were adequate for sin's debt to pay
For there will be a day of separating the goats from the Shepard's precious sheep
Those on the right will hear "COME, blest of My Father"...the promise of the Kingdom...we now can keep
Enter into the Joy of the Lord...even those who have fallen asleep
Others,... Jesus won't always be the loving, inviting Saviour...faithful and true
One day He will be "JUDGE", commanding, "Depart from Me--I never knew you"
You never truly heeded my invitation to COME...it's not enough to mearly sit in a church pew
Now, don't let those TERRIBLE words of finality ever enter your ears
TODAY!! Accept His invitation! COME to Him in repentence & tears
For life is precarious at best...and that day of judgement nears

WOW! I just read Joel's blog and I didn't see this. Surely, you are going to post this one over there.
When I got to my blog yours was the first one I read, so I jumped over here quickly so I could see. I knew I would be greatly blessed, and she didn't disappoint.
Can you even imagine the poetry she will write after she sees the hills of glory? And she has laid her eyes on her Savior? Man, oh Man.
Love you all,
Does your mom ever read her poetry at Church? Or get it printed out, and share it, in services? If not, it's certainly something to consider :)
VERY GOOD, indeed! I loved it!
Thanks!
Love to you, and yours, too!
