Have You Two Met?
By: Maxine M.

The Bible records how, on the Damascus Road, the risen Jesus MET the Pharisee Saul
Stopping him in his zealous pursuit…blinded by the light, he heard the Saviour call
Why!! are you persecuting Me by locking My servants in a prison stall

Saul fell to the ground in astonishment & fear, retaining no strength at all
“Who are You, Lord? What do You want ME to do?” he asked in trembling voice weak and small
Oh, how that encounter altered his life…even changing his name to Paul

The Bible also tells of Peter, who MET Jesus one day at his brother, Andrew’s request
His nets were FILLED when fishing on the “RIGHT” side, as Jesus would suggest
“I’ll make you a “Fisher of Men”, Peter, if your life, in ME you invest

Oh, he had rough edges to smooth, words & instructions from the Lord to digest
A change from what “I will do” to what the Holy Spirit said was best
So from simple fisherman to great apostle…MEETING JESUS was the difference he confessed

The Gospels tell us of MANY people who MET Jesus…their lives never to be the same
A woman caught in adultery, a Roman soldier, shockingly hideous lepers or those crippled & lame
Zacchaeus & Nicodemus…both anxious to meet this One of such growing fame

A sick woman who believed if she could just, unnoticed, touch His garment, she’d be healed
But Jesus knew instantly POWER had been released, for NOTHING from Him can be concealed
So she MET Him face to face, heard that her sins were forgiven…eternal future sealed

A generous boy MET Jesus, offered his lunch so a multitude He could feed
Thus He met (had PERSONAL contact with) people in their hour of need
Confronting those He met who thought THEIR righteous religious acts were enough to succeed

Some in the crowds only followed out of CURIOSITY to see what more He’d do
Wondering, could the bizarre statements He was heard to say, really be true?
They observed Him from afar…their opportunity to MEET God’s Son, they simply blew

Then there were the two thieves who MET Him one day on Calvary’s hill
One taunted & scorned Him, not realizing Jesus was following His Father’s will
The other finally recognized it was for HIM, the Son’s blood would spill

So, how about YOU? Have you PERSONALLY MET Him…an intimate relationship gained?
Or by hearsay…what others have told you OR simply INTELLECTUAL knowledge you’ve obtained
Have you embraced Him with open arms or has your acceptance been restrained

Thinking, at a more CONVIENT time, I’ll look Him up…see what He has to say
For right now there’s work, travel, entertainment, all those bills to pay
Sunday is my only day for ME…when life slows down; there will be time to pray

But we have no guarantee of LATER…there maybe “SURPRISES” around life’s next bend
Tomorrow may be TOO LATE…NOW is the time to MEET Him as Saviour, Lord & friend
Ask, like Paul, what do you want ME to do Lord…what message should my life send?

Because once you DO meet Him, a DECISION will have to be made
Believe Him & accept Him as Saviour or reject Him & live life without His aid
But INDIFFERENCE will be impossible…by your actions; your decision will be conveyed

Now, if you are already a born again believer, have you introduced Him to some one you know?
Taken the time & effort so that Christ’s love & compassion for them will show
For the sand left in the “Church Age” hour-glass is running very low

Why not assist all you can to meet Jesus somewhere on life’s road before they die
There will be a “SPECIAL” joy when we’re called to meet Him at the trumpet’s call on high
If we see others we’ve helped bring to this miraculous gathering in the sky

So please, be an Andrew...bring your friend, neighbor, especially that loved one
Acquaint them with Jesus…tell them how God the Father GAVE the gift of His Son
For NOTHING you will ever accomplish in life will reap a greater reward than a soul won!

Judy, I love your momma's poetry and always have but this one is the best yet. You know she has a great ability to put God's word into a beautiful form that really gets it all together and easily read.

I miss you and your great joy and just had to come and tell you so. I see by the date on the last poem that it has been a while since you have posted and I hope it is only because there are so many things you have to keep up with.

I am concerned that it might have to do with your mother's health and I guess that is why I am writing this to you now. Would you please drop me a note and let me know that my anxiety is misplaced and also to let me know you are doing well?

I don't know if you heard about Joyce (JIB) on the blog but a terrible thing happened to Joyce, her hubby Dennis and their 11 year old son, Trevor. On December 6th an all consuming fire destroyed their home and their lives. Two days before Trevor's 12th birthday. The fire is under investigation and no results have been reported at this time. Joyce's mother, Rebecca Bonenberger lives in Cedarville, Ohio and was devastated by it. She has one remaining child, Todd and his family left of her family and she could benefit from your prayers also.

I miss you Miss Judy and the memory of you will always shine brightest in my heart, mind and prayers.

Love and blessings,
Wilma

WAR!! By: Maxine M WE are at WAR!! Not just the one we see on television every night This is a SUBTLE war, so subtle perhaps we don't even realize we're in a fight Or who the enemy is, but BEWARE!, this enemy has weapons of powerful might The weapons of this enemy we face, have been around since time began This daily war is the war of that "Serpent of Old" verses man When Eve first saw him, she should have turned around and ran For she wasn't an equal match for this enemy's 'half-truths' and outright lies Gleefully, he thought he had won when he heard her labor's cry Thinking, NOW, against the rule of their Creator, all her offspring will defy But he's only won a battle, the full blown war was only about to start And it still rages today...the war for man's soul, mind and heart The stakes are HIGH, don't underestimate him, for he is cunning, wiley and smart Most "soldiers" just do what they have to do, b
OUR MISSION by: Maxine M Our Lord's last and great commission was...Spread the Gospel's Good News The good news that Christ died and rose again, so Salvation's way they could choose Choose to accept His love & forgiveness OR eternal separation ..if they refuse Now, we're not all in a position to leave home & family for a foreign land And in reality for some, this isn't what God had planned To reach those all around us, THIS was His purposed command So we all CAN accomplish "This Commission" right where we live each day By the things we do, the love we show, the words we say By being steadfast and vigilant...keeping in mind its Christ's image we are to convey Most don't have opportunity to go to seminary or learn Spanish, French or German Or are gifted to stand at a pulpit and give an eloquent sermon But we ALL can do SOMETHING to promote His name, as we so determine Maybe simply take meals to the elderly, offer a helping hand Little acts of
The Last Ride by: Maxine M (in dedication to a fellow Christian who lost his life) What a lovely day!! Riding in the fresh spring air, what a thrill A "bike" gives such freedom, lets you go wherever you will But, unknowingly, death waited at the top of the hill A careless moment & a poor decision...quickly a life can be lost Someone else's mistake, but the innocent paid the ultimate cost There was no going back, a line forever crossed Life ceased in an instant, leaving a young family and friends behind In that moment, the word "tragedy" was clearly defined Life's priorities for the survivors were dramatically realigned Two lives...one's soul now vanished and gone, the other now saddled with guilt One's dreams destroyed, the future he hoped could be built The threads of life unraveled!!, into pieces enough to make a patchwork quilt The other's life too, forever changed even if he doesn't realize it yet This scene will play over and over in
