Do You Believe?

Christian: Defined as a believer, follower of Jesus Christ and His teachings
For no one else's influence in history as been so far reaching
Only His message of "unconditional love" has been so beseeching

Can you imagine the wonderous love that made Him willing to die?
To pay the ultimate price for OUR sins, He would obediently comply
Only the sacrifice of "the Sinless for the sinful" would salvation's attonement buy

So are YOU a Christian? To these questions can you give an affirmative nod?
Do you believe Jesus Christ was truly the Son of God?
Who left Heaven and became a man, Israel's Holy Land to trod

Do you believe EVERY person is a sinner, separated from God and lost?
That only this One's perfect blood could pay sin's terrible cost
That without Him we're on a sea of doubt, worry, fear and tossed

Do you worry of what the future may hold here on Earth?
Puzzled at what was I created for? What was the purpose of my birth?
Doubting what really is our own self worth

Wondering!! Have I done enough good deeds? How many are required?
And were they done for right motives? What did my heart desire?
Praise and gratitude from others, so "my goodness" they would admire?

But good deeds should be done out of thankfulness of His paying OUR debt
Do you believe it's by Faith, our future destiny is set?
And that He's waiting patiently for those who haven't confessed their sin yet?

Do you believe He also rose again from the dead?
That the bible contains all the true and accurate words that God said?
Have you looked for yourself? All His promises have YOU read?

Don't assume you're a Christian because you were baptised as a child
Or a long list of church attendence you've compiled
Or because you were blessed with a personality sweet and mild

You don't inherit salvation from your ancestors of the past
Or by "osmosis" from the people among whom you're cast
No, it comes from a genuine spirit of repentance that will last

By ASKING Him to change your mind and heart
To lead you on a different path than you were on at the start
In asking, He hears; in confessing, He forgives; in believing..uncertainty departs

So, you see it can be yours for the asking, this gift His death bought
Why wouldn't you follow this One, Who for you, so long has He sought
Only YOU can answer these questions. Please give them a considerable thought!

I'm really enjoying all the friendships gained through Joel's site... the best is when it gets really heated and then goes back to normal... real family!!
I've tried to get Grace to post several times but haven't had any lucl either. Keep her in your prayers!! She must be going through something very troubling .I can't seem to really focus on anyone else to pray for these days... just Grace.

Judy,
Another wonderful poem! Your mom, and you, are both talented ladies :)

Thanks for all your wonderful encouragement! You are so sweet, and filled with the Holy Spirit!

And I might give that pebble a try, but I might be tempted to toss it at my Manager, LOL. No, not really. Years ago, yes! Although my hair used to be med. brown, it had LOTS of red hightlights, and I have fair skin and tons of freckles. So, yeah, the Lord has done a real work on me, and my 'temperment.' I wasn't the 'angry' type, I just 'flew off the handle,' and then everything was okay..........or so I thought. Better to let things, 'go,' and not get stirred up, in the first place :)
When I was younger, I had so many apologies to deliever. Then one day my mom came up with the radical thought, that gee, if I didn't lose my temper, and say things I didn't mean, 'maybe' I wouldn't have to go and apoligize all the time, LOL. You know? She had an absolutely great point! Although, it took the work of the Holy spirit to complete things, of course :)

God bless you! And have a blessed Easter, too!

WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
GOT TROUBLES? by Maxine M. We read of tragedies in the paper, see them on tv every day We're shocked and saddened, but soon just go on our way We may send a comforting message, really not knowing what to say But then!! As is inevitable, a crisis strikes us or our loved one In panic we ask "why"? Who can help? What can be done? Now there's no putting it out of mind, there's no place to run When YOU get the call in the middle of the night When YOUR doctor says "I'm sorry, this report shows something is not right" When YOUR job is lost, it was Your house that burned...what a fright Then trouble becomes personal, there's no room for apathy Our desire is..Of this pain, sorrow, grief... to be set free! But, knowing WHERE to turn, that's the vital key Counselors, doctors, and medicine can only help to a certain degree Support from friends & family is wonderful we all agree But when all is "said and done"; Dear Lord, it's just You a...
Have You Two Met? By: Maxine M. The Bible records how, on the Damascus Road, the risen Jesus MET the Pharisee Saul Stopping him in his zealous pursuit…blinded by the light, he heard the Saviour call Why!! are you persecuting Me by locking My servants in a prison stall Saul fell to the ground in astonishment & fear, retaining no strength at all “Who are You, Lord? What do You want ME to do?” he asked in trembling voice weak and small Oh, how that encounter altered his life…even changing his name to Paul The Bible also tells of Peter, who MET Jesus one day at his brother, Andrew’s request His nets were FILLED when fishing on the “RIGHT” side, as Jesus would suggest “I’ll make you a “Fisher of Men”, Peter, if your life, in ME you invest Oh, he had rough edges to smooth, words & instructions from the Lord to digest A change from what “I will do” to what the Holy Spirit said was best So from s...
