Be Not Afraid!!
By: Maxine M

Do you worry and fret...toss and turn all night upon your bed?
Frightened by dreams, scenes of disaster running through your head?
Thoughts of, how will I pay my bills...how will I ever get ahead?

Stock Market fell today and what will become of Grandma who just broke her hip?
Will my spouse be safe on his impending business trip?
Does concern for your children have you in fear's deadly grip?

Fear--defined as anticipation of danger, a deep feeling of dread
Perhaps the result of reality, or just an ominous emotion instead
Fear can be disabling...basis of many illnesses, Doctors have said

Fear of the future, fear of the unknown, WHAT lies behind "tomorrow's" door
How long before terrorists come again to America's shore
Fire, earthquakes, tornados, floods...what does nature have in store

For fear of embarrassment & ridicule, many great ideas have withered on the vine
Potentially good marriages don't last when fear of commitment & mistrust combine
Or troubled relationships form when fear & pain of being alone intertwine

Even Job said, "The thing I greatly feared has come upon me"
Through financial losses & loss of his children, he praised God on bended knee
But through the loss of health, doubt would come, his friends would see

But he retained faith in GOD's goodness, by perseverance, he'd learn
That "This too will pass" & God IS present in the fearful things we discern
And Once it's over...FREEDOM from it's fear, we can earn

So, what do YOU fear? What strikes terror, if THIS, you were asked to face?
Loss of your home? Now so lovely with new windows...fancy curtains and lace
You worked so hard for it, you're sure another could never replace

Loss of your spouse?...the one you've built your life around
How would you manage?...without their voice's reasurring sound
Does the thought of YOUR own mortality make your heart wildly pound?

What would you do in a financial crisis?...if all income were lost today
Are you anxious about what the DA's report will have to say?
How many more will be killed in the war? Is more trouble on the way?

Job loss, job relocation, being disabled, dependent on those you hold dear
Speaking in public, meeting new people, trouble from the past that may reappear
Memory loss, uncontrolable pain...what IS YOUR most overwhelming fear?

For you see, the thing we fear, we haven't given to God in trust
We try to depend on ourselves, forgetting we were created from dust
So BE WISE!!, rely totally on the one who is merciful and just!

Because "Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom", the sweet psalmist said
Not terror & trembling fear, but extreme REVERENCE for His AWESOME POWER instead
And the knowledge that, at His spoken Word, His crucified Son rose from the dead

The Bible tells us, fear only the one who will one day Judge us all
And the fate of that Judgement is determined by whether or not we accept salvation's call
Because in ACCEPTING...fear is vanquished, peace is installed

Please, cling to Christ's loving, gentle, encouraging words of "BE NOT AFRAID"
"Fear Not, I am with you"...fear, for certainty, you can then trade
Protected by the "shield of faith"...THAT fear cannot invade

So bring ALL fears, SURRENDER THEM!! Lay them at the Father's feet
The faults, failures and mistakes we often commit because of fear...we won't so easily repeat
Be confident the fearful "Battle of Good vs. Evil", will end in Satan's defeat!

Judy,
I haven't seen you up and posting for a couple of days. So, I thought I'd visit, and I saw another one of your Mom's great poems, so I was 'twice' blessed :)
Thanks!

And what have you been up to lately? (smile)

Love to you, and your mom, too!

Judy,
I'm agreeing with you, in prayer, that God will continue to take good care of you, and your family.

After all, He is our source, correct? And if there's one thing I've learned over the years? Leave your requests with God, because then He can take care of things. (it's easy to take them back again, by worry, as in 'The Alter and the Door')
Be sure to read the book of Phil. It's only a few Chapters :)

I gotta run for now.

I love you, and God loves you, and your family, more than you could ever imagine! And He will continue to bless you, too!
Judy,

I know I haven't been 'around' lately too much lately,,,,work, family, sports, the girls, ....I just wanted to say I loved the poem and miss you very much....one day we will see each other face-to-face.....and my lips won't hurt real bad!

Judy, I finally made it to your site and it is great seeing you and your family. Mom looks great too!

Now, I love the poetry your Momma writes and you said together we would make a good God team. Well, God did it and without us even orchestrating it. I tried so hard to post help on overcoming fear or just how to kick it out the door but it wouldn't come out right. Then I started working on something else and forgot about it.

Next thing I know there is the Poem of your Momma's on Fear and then the Holy Spirit said, it's time. I love what he does for us and hopefully this will be encouraging for others who have just come into the faith.

Would you think it rude of me to copy and post your Momma's poem on my blog? I referenced it but in case the person reading it doesn't know how to find it, it would be there. Let me know and I'll work on it.

Love you kiddo and you are so darn cute! Beamer and Steve too!

WAR!! By: Maxine M WE are at WAR!! Not just the one we see on television every night This is a SUBTLE war, so subtle perhaps we don't even realize we're in a fight Or who the enemy is, but BEWARE!, this enemy has weapons of powerful might The weapons of this enemy we face, have been around since time began This daily war is the war of that "Serpent of Old" verses man When Eve first saw him, she should have turned around and ran For she wasn't an equal match for this enemy's 'half-truths' and outright lies Gleefully, he thought he had won when he heard her labor's cry Thinking, NOW, against the rule of their Creator, all her offspring will defy But he's only won a battle, the full blown war was only about to start And it still rages today...the war for man's soul, mind and heart The stakes are HIGH, don't underestimate him, for he is cunning, wiley and smart Most "soldiers" just do what they have to do, b
OUR MISSION by: Maxine M Our Lord's last and great commission was...Spread the Gospel's Good News The good news that Christ died and rose again, so Salvation's way they could choose Choose to accept His love & forgiveness OR eternal separation ..if they refuse Now, we're not all in a position to leave home & family for a foreign land And in reality for some, this isn't what God had planned To reach those all around us, THIS was His purposed command So we all CAN accomplish "This Commission" right where we live each day By the things we do, the love we show, the words we say By being steadfast and vigilant...keeping in mind its Christ's image we are to convey Most don't have opportunity to go to seminary or learn Spanish, French or German Or are gifted to stand at a pulpit and give an eloquent sermon But we ALL can do SOMETHING to promote His name, as we so determine Maybe simply take meals to the elderly, offer a helping hand Little acts of
The Last Ride by: Maxine M (in dedication to a fellow Christian who lost his life) What a lovely day!! Riding in the fresh spring air, what a thrill A "bike" gives such freedom, lets you go wherever you will But, unknowingly, death waited at the top of the hill A careless moment & a poor decision...quickly a life can be lost Someone else's mistake, but the innocent paid the ultimate cost There was no going back, a line forever crossed Life ceased in an instant, leaving a young family and friends behind In that moment, the word "tragedy" was clearly defined Life's priorities for the survivors were dramatically realigned Two lives...one's soul now vanished and gone, the other now saddled with guilt One's dreams destroyed, the future he hoped could be built The threads of life unraveled!!, into pieces enough to make a patchwork quilt The other's life too, forever changed even if he doesn't realize it yet This scene will play over and over in
