The Road
By: Maxine M.

Life is a journey, a ROAD on which we ALL MUST walk day by day
We start as a helpless infant, content…in our parent’s arms, to lay
But soon we want down to experience the road ourselves…independence convey

At first we can only crawl, then walk, run, jump…oh so much to learn
There’s hills, valleys, bends & curves to navigate, wondering ‘what’s around the next turn?’
Road signs appear that WARN!!...there are pitfalls to discern

The road is full of diverse people, whom we walk among all the way
Different ages, different colors, different genders, some have different gods to which they pray
Some are behind us on the road, some way ahead…take time to hear what they have to say

Friendships are formed with some around us, those in whom we can confide
And often we find a “special” person with whom we can walk side by side
The one we want to be on the road with forever…hand in hand, stride for stride

But people are constantly leaving the road, for often it leads to a cemetery gate
And we must go on alone…mourning their fate
Constantly moving along the road toward a destination, and we can not be late

Now, EVERYONE at some point, comes to a “fork” in the road ahead
A decision MUST be made, which way? The wide smooth one or the narrow one instead
Each has a distinct separate destination, so be CAREFUL on which you tread

The wide road SEEMS easy, glamorous and exciting…with enticing flashing lights it’s lit
So many CHOOSE this road thinking it leads to success, sophistication & wit
But, at the narrow road, stands the ONE who says “This is the way, walk in IT”

This ONE promises to walk WITH you, you’ll never have to walk alone
He LEADS, you FOLLOW…even when there are thorns, danger, obstacles of stone
He’ll give strength to go on…not yield to the weakness to which we are prone

He’s always there URGING & ENCOURAGING… “You can make it, just lean on Me”
“Soon…from all cares, troubles, heartache and pain…you’ll be set free”
And the “Final Destination” will be the most GLORIOUS sight you could ever see

“For now, the narrow road may be long and steep, but you’ll always be under My protection”
“I’ll guide you & comfort you…HAPPY you’ll be if you HEED My correction”
Now, those on the wide road are also moving swiftly along…just in a different direction

Many find success, fame & fortune, but TRUE contentment will be fleeting
Others only find loneliness, fear, unhappiness…a life that’s self-defeating
Mistakes, failures…over and over they will be repeating

An uncertain future looms, fear & anxiety become full blown
For this road TOO will end at some point, at a time now unknown
Some will even leave the road before they’re fully grown

So, are YOU “lost” somewhere on the wide road, pondering where will it end…what will be my fate?
There is GOOD NEWS!! While there is still breath in your body, it’s still not too late
To cry out for “HELP”!! and switch to the narrow road…isn’t that great?!

The Guide on the narrow road will HEAR you, RESCUE you, BRING you on board
Finally you’ll find PEACE…you and your Maker become of ONE accord
Then you can kneel at HIS feet & say “Thank You, LORD!”

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
