Does He Hear?
By: Maxine M.

We are taught from childhood…Come boldly to the throne of Grace in faithful prayer
Talk to God as a child to a Father…lay your heart bare
For the DAILY stress and the “surprises” in life, this helps us prepare

BUT does God truly answer prayer…or is our pleading all in vain?
Don’t we often grow weary in waiting? Oh, what an emotional drain!
But have we asked in SINCERITY or uttered a continuous often repeated refrain?

Will our request bring Glory to our Saviour or is it SELF we wish to promote?
Are our motives pure? Have we asked amiss as James long ago wrote?
Is there “something” you’ve NOT surrendered hiding deep within…be it ever so remote?

Something HE wishes brought to light, perhaps some unfulfilled vow
A secret sin not confessed or presumptuous sins He never would allow
Or often the request is just not in the Father’s plan for you…at least not right now

Has the prayer included respect & honor for His awesome power & might?
Have we asked for HIS all knowing totally discerning insight?
Instead of DEMANDING we be given what WE see as totally right

Do we cry out for relief when sorrow & grief seem to have permanently come to stay?
Those times we really cannot find adequate words to pray
Times we can only GROAN…but His Spirit knows what we want to say

Isn’t our BEST prayer…Lord!! Not MY will but YOURS be done
The same one Jesus prayed when realizing the VERY difficult course He was about to run
Dreading how bearing MAN’S sin would, even temporarily, separate Father & Son

He 1st prayed that there would be another way…submitted to the Father’s will
Knowing the way for man’s salvation meant His Holy Blood He’d have to spill
So He endured betrayal, beatings, mocking, pain & humiliation there on Calvary’s hill

So when we ask for solutions to our problems…change our “life storms” to a gentle breeze
That financial woes be solved or SPARE the life of MY loved one, please!!
REMEMBER, it’s essential that we ACCEPT HIS ANSWER with confidence & ease

For whatever dark road we must go down, He’s right there by our side
All troubles and heartache…He WANTS us, to Him, confide
He’s even kept in a bottle all those tears we’ve ever cried

The Lord we love and serve ALWAYS hears HIS child’s urgent request
But His wisdom MUST prevail, regardless of our fluent verbal protest
That’s when FAITH takes over…comforting and assuring that His answer is BEST

So we see prayer isn’t presenting our “wish list”…expecting everything it may contain
But a ONENESS of heart & mind with the Lord…releasing an emotional strain
Molding OUR will to HIS will, knowing our LOSS will eventually be GAIN

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
