Hi Everyone....here is another great one from Mom

CHANGE

Dear Lord,
Why can't life just be orderly and neat instead of frustrating and strange?
So many people, situations, with details to arrange?
Why can't the people I deal withjust simply change?

Why can't they just see and do things MY way?
I try to instruct, but they don't seem to hear a word I say
Lord!!, deliver me from so many wanting my help today

Change them to be independent, on themselves rely
They seem to be daring me for a sarcastic reply
These people can be so thoughtless, I really can't see why

I've prayed for friends, family, co-workers seemingly without results
And You know, Lord, I've TRIED TO SHOW them all THEIR faults
But, they so resist change, bad habits they refuse to halt

What, Lord!! What is this thought that has suddenly come to be?
A new light is dawning and this I finally see
What I really should be asking is, Dear Lord, please change ME!

Change anger and frustration into genuine love for my fellow man
Consider their needs, not just my childish demands
Let ME take that "leap of faith" blindly follow your commands

When my reasoning says " this can't possibly be best"
Change MY heart to willingly do things I detest
Unveil MY eyes to things I need to confess

Change my lips from gossip to worship and praise
Words that will comfort others, hopes and spirits raise
May it be a permanent change, not just a religious phase

Change ME to put others first, not just my own selfish desire
Let my life reflect kindness, helpfulness, others inspire
Change my goals to Heavenly rewards, not riches here on Earth aquire

Change my impatience when YOU say to wait
Remind me how much better to just stop, think. contemplate
Consider the consequences before it's too late

Change my pride and make me humble
Knowing how many people at this SIN, stumble
Make me willingly obedient whereas, now, I'm prone to grumble

Change my thought to an attitude of thankfulness
For even with daily stress You more than abundently bless
You forgive our faults and failures, can we to others do any less??

Lord, I know change won't be easy, I still may resist at the start
But change is possible for Your Grace can soften the hardest heart
And into every repentent soul, Your Holy Spirit You'll impart

And in eternity, we will be changed to be just like You
Your word is clear, exact, so no one can misconstrue
For the promise is for YOUR CHILDREN all things will be brand new

We know You hear us when we ask in Your name. Amen

I seem to remember enjoying some of your poetry (forgive me if you are not the one..so many names to remember) on this site and thinking to myself how talented you are! I would appreciate more of your "gifts" being shown as well!
Thanks for your warm welcome!

Judy,

I love this poem!

Funny, lastnight I was talking to my hubby about how it is so easy to say that we are Christians and read our Bibles and then NOT put the word of God into practice in our lives.

And how easy it is to not teach it to our children. He said,"Are you preaching at me?".

Man, I wish HE would change..,LOL!! That IS why I was saying those things to him and he knew it!

This was so fitting!

Welcome to Joel's blog by the way. I read it every day even if I do not post.

WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
GOT TROUBLES? by Maxine M. We read of tragedies in the paper, see them on tv every day We're shocked and saddened, but soon just go on our way We may send a comforting message, really not knowing what to say But then!! As is inevitable, a crisis strikes us or our loved one In panic we ask "why"? Who can help? What can be done? Now there's no putting it out of mind, there's no place to run When YOU get the call in the middle of the night When YOUR doctor says "I'm sorry, this report shows something is not right" When YOUR job is lost, it was Your house that burned...what a fright Then trouble becomes personal, there's no room for apathy Our desire is..Of this pain, sorrow, grief... to be set free! But, knowing WHERE to turn, that's the vital key Counselors, doctors, and medicine can only help to a certain degree Support from friends & family is wonderful we all agree But when all is "said and done"; Dear Lord, it's just You a...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
