Bad News/Good News

We just finished dinner, getting ready for dessert
When we hear "Attention, attention!! This is a Fox News Alert"
More bad news? Into our already troubled day they want to insert

Chaos, terrorism, suicide bombings, a world in disarray
All the politicians are in disagreement, turmoil and dismay
They haven't any answers, blame on someone elsethey are ready to lay

Like why did we go to Iraq without an exit plan?
What price will we pay for gas? What's going to happen in Iran?
How dare SD violate "Women's Rights" with that outrageous abortion ban

Violence, abuse, murder are all going to increase or so they forecast
With stocks in decline, how long can this economy last?
Taxes are going up while big corporate CEO's, great fortunes are amassed

Guns, knives in school,no longer a safe place to play
The death of a controversial, rich women makes headlines day by day
But persecutions of Christians worldwide isn't newsworthy they say

Yellowstone's getting restless; how long before she'll blow?
Just a matter of time 'til some rouge nation puts on a nuclear show
Some places are in severe drought, others just got alot of snow

To enhance performance, drugs are used by the sports heroes we so adore
Weather patterns are changing, not predictable any more
How many hurricanes, tornados, floods does tomorrow have in store?

Fast food is making us all unhealthy, better stop before it's too late
"Traditional" family is in jeopardy with the world so full of hate
And just who will win the electionin '08

We hear of nationsscheming to wipe Israel off the map
Perhaps America, too, will fall into this trap
The ones who could accomplish this, what a feather in their cap

There is war protesting in DC; World Peace, their eventual hope
But how can good and evil, truth and lies ever walk the same tight rope?
Isn't it inner-peace we need to meet life's stress, learn to cope?

Wounded soldiers are mistreated when they deserve our very best of care
The list goes on and on, filling us with despair
We keep wondering how can life be so unfair

But we have forgotten, the future happens at WHO'S command
For God isn't telling the angels "Boy!! Things are really getting out of hand"
NO!! It's all going the way He has planned

The One Who created the universe isn't worried about "Global Warming" like Al Gore
And the Jews future is secured by the covenant He swore
I'm sure He laughed at the claims Jesus's bones were behind a concrete door

So listen to the news, all the bad news that they shout
Remember!! The "Good" news they never talk about
The Good News that can drive away all fear and doubt

The Good News that God said "Be courageous!" "Be strong!" "Be Brave!"
Believe in My Son and your soul you'll save
The Good News that for Christians, life doesn't end at the grave

Judy,

That poem is absolutely beautiful. Your Mom is very talented. Can't wait to see more.

Would it be ok if I mentioned your blogspot to Press_ie, he is also a poet and I know he would love it?

Let me know, ok.

I'll check back later.

Keep on keeping on.
Oh, Child!!! You made my heart MELT!!

My Mom is so GOOD at her poetry and has written such beautiful poems "love letter" for me and my entire family. It means sooo much to me and will to her too that you thought it was beautiful. I knew it was but nice to know someone unfamiliar to it does too.

I would be thrilled if you mentioned my blogsite to Press-ie and anyone else whom you think might appreciate or get something from it. I was writing to you on Joel's blog as you were writing to me so posts crossed...you are very special to me Child and thanks for the encouragements!! Love Judy
Judy,

Thanks for the permission. I know he will be thrilled to read it.

Please do post more of her poetry.

Do you live close to your Mom so you can see her often? I hope so.

My Mother just went to Glory the end of 2004. I took her out of the nursing home, and moved with her into her house. She had severe dementia, but she always knew me and her close friends. I could not take care of her by myself, so I hired nurses, aides, and therapists to assist me. But, we had luncheons quite often for her friends and she loved it. It took me over a year to sort through all their things and give away things to family and friends, and then I moved back to my own home. Time flies, it only seems a few months since she went home.

I think I am probably old enough to be your grandma, but you can just think of me as your sister, because that is truly what we are.

I don't think of myself as a teacher, although I have done a lot of it. But, I don't think it is a spiritual gift, but I wasn't bad as an unanointed teacher. I mainly kept the lesson flowing. I love God's Word, so I guess I could be called a teacher in the same sense that every other believer is also a teacher. But, I do love to share.

Well, I hope we see more poetry soon. Tell your Mom thanks for sharing with us.

Keep on keeping on and listen for the shout.

Thanks again for the permission to share your Mom's poetry with the others.

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
