YES!! Lord, I Will Follow
By: Maxine M.

One by one the disciples heard Jesus calling… “Come follow me”
They left their normal daily lives for one filled with hardships, to a certain degree
But OH!! The marvelous & astonishing wonders and miracles they were privileged to see

Simple ordinary people, but all had pliable spirits Jesus could mold
Men with open minds & willing hearts…ones who could FOLLOW & become bold
Bold & courageous to go out into the world…relay the message they were told

As Christians, when we hear “Follow Me”, are we loyal and true
Do we eagerly answer YES!! Lord, I will follow You!
But are we “prepared” for the things He MAY ASK us to do

Because His “Follow Me” is an INVITATION…not a harsh demand
A CHOICE we make, on whose side will we stand
Will we simply reach up and take His hand

Fresh out of college, a business career in mind, but an inner-voice is saying MINISTRY instead
Will you ignore the voice thinking, I must keep a PRACTICAL head
When in reality, the SENSIBLE & SECURE thing is to “Follow”…as Jesus said

Will we follow when the ONLY future we SEE is frightening, uncertain and grim
When others scoff, ridicule & mock, will we STILL follow Him?
Some START to follow, then turn away after some worldly whim

Will we follow when a marriage falls apart after many years
Trust Him for a new future…trust He can dry all our tears
Follow Him on the path of rebuilding…trust Him to calm all your fears

Will we still “follow” when devastating illness strikes us or someone for whom we care
Trust when the future MAY include disability or a wheelchair
Will we remember “Who’s in control” when life just doesn’t seem fair

Will you follow IF, for you, a “single” life is what He has planned
Trust He’ll provide the strength when, for integrity & morality, we stand
What if He leads you to leave family and friends for a foreign land?

What if “Follow Me” means to do the unexpected…you must now raise a child
Will it still be YES!! Lord when emotions are running wild
Yes , Lord…we’ll just postpone the future plans we had compiled

Still follow when a financial future just crashed…bankruptcy is in sight
Trust if we’re forced to downsize…live on a budget that is tight
Willingly change a career field, WITHOUT resentment & bitterness over our plight

If our child is abducted, missing, vanished without a trace
Or have they succumbed to a different lifestyle, gambling or drugs…sending your world out of place
Can we STILL say YES!! Lord, I’ll follow…by YOUR GRACE

If death takes a spouse or they’re “lost” somewhere in their own mind
Will we follow Jesus’ example…remain caring, loving and kind
Trust He’ll provide for us…the partner left behind

Are we PREPARED to RELEASE those “things & habits” which we hold so tight?
Will we trust if a storm takes OUR home in the middle of the night?
The accident was horrible!! NOW can we follow Him in forgiving the one who ran the red light?

Jesus said “we are His sheep” and sheep follow their Shepherd’s voice
The sheep are safely protected…as long as “following” is their choice
And, if one little lamb is lost then found, the Shepherd will rejoice

So, our vow of “YES!! Lord, I will follow You” let us reaffirm steadfastly & obey
Follow WHEREVER He leads…for as sheep we are apt to go astray
For it’s in FOLLOWING His steps, the Glories of Heaven we’ll enjoy one day

GOT TROUBLES? by Maxine M. We read of tragedies in the paper, see them on tv every day We're shocked and saddened, but soon just go on our way We may send a comforting message, really not knowing what to say But then!! As is inevitable, a crisis strikes us or our loved one In panic we ask "why"? Who can help? What can be done? Now there's no putting it out of mind, there's no place to run When YOU get the call in the middle of the night When YOUR doctor says "I'm sorry, this report shows something is not right" When YOUR job is lost, it was Your house that burned...what a fright Then trouble becomes personal, there's no room for apathy Our desire is..Of this pain, sorrow, grief... to be set free! But, knowing WHERE to turn, that's the vital key Counselors, doctors, and medicine can only help to a certain degree Support from friends & family is wonderful we all agree But when all is "said and done"; Dear Lord, it's just You a...
Hope vs. Certainty by: Maxine M Hope: Webster defines as the feeling of what we want will happen, our desire we'll see Also as the person or thing from which this expectation will come to be Now each person's hope varies to an individual degree Certainty: fixed, settled, sure, positive....that which we can not doubt Thy Word, oh Lord, forever settled in Heaven!!, a certainty we can shout North is always north, truth is always true...not matter what else comes about Mary and Martha HOPED Jesus would come, so brother Lazarus wouldn't have to die Disappointed & let down...tears of sorrow they would cry But the CERTAINTY was, Jesus IS the Lord of Life, death's victory He could deny The disciples HOPED the Messiah would free them from Roman domination, in their day That Israel would be exaulted...all enemies made to pay The CERTAINTY was, He came to free us from sin, Salvation had just come their way David clung to HOPE, that God would relent...his child He would spare...
Milk and Meat By: Maxine A baby’s distressed wail fills the night…“I’m hungry” is what is meant For newborns WANT & NEED milk to keep them happy & content Milk!! Nature’s perfect food, promoting growth & development…good health will represent But then as time goes on, solid foods are introduced, much to their delight Cereals & mashed vegetables to help a baby sleep through the night Then finally MEAT as their digestive system develops, acquiring strength & might Now, the bible states that as Christians, we move from “milk” to “meat” as we mature & grow Remember!!, how verses like John 3:16, in our “infancy”, made our faces glow That 1st realization that GOD LOVES US…the greatest love we’ll ever know Beautiful psalms soothed our spirit, chased away fear, brought His presence near As a parent quiets their child, we could feel His everlasting arms appear Promises of one day knowing He...
