Home Sweet Home
By: Maxine M.

A drive in the country, the clean air should help me relax & clear my head
The chaos of the week…mental cobwebs & frustration, this has led
Lungs need to be rid of pollution, smog is heavy today the paper said

OH great!!, the temperature gauge reads “HOT”, better stop at this old farmstead for awhile
An old dilapidated house, ramshackle barn, no neighbors for at least a mile
Once, a family had lived here for a faded sign said “Home Sweet Home”…that made me smile

“Home”!!, a safe secure place to call one’s own…the American Dream
From all over the world, ancestors had come in a migrating stream
“Home”…the very word invokes memories, mostly from childhood it would seem

For like his old house, my childhood home too had long ago been deserted
But had once been a place where “family ties” had been asserted
Home!!, where family “history”, customs & traditions, were unquestionably inserted

This house likely had also resounded with children’s laughter
Hopes & dreams whispered between siblings amongst those attic rafters
Secrets, special memories only they would share…to take to the “here after”

The thought of HOME brings comfort, eases life’s heartache and pain
Memories of burying down in quilts on a cold winter night or listening to summer’s soft gentle rain
Of laying in tall grass, just watching clouds or birds…hearing the sound of a south bound crane

Now a HOUSE isn’t really a HOME until love dwells within its walls
When understanding, fairness, equality roams its halls
And there’s non-judgmental HELP and encouragement when one member falls

Abruptly, a thought arises…for SOME, “home” wasn’t anything like THAT
For THEM, home was a battleground…a war zone of combat
Where children were abused, neglected, belittled…self esteem & confidence squashed flat

Home was a place children couldn’t wait to leave, in desperation & despair
To go out into the cold cruel world, with no way to prepare
Without the love and support God intended a family to share

Devoid of those examples, will THEIR house just be a place to dwell?
Just an “investment”, a chance for a profit when it’s time to resell
Never a real “home” with wonderful family stories to tell

Suddenly, I remember the promise of Jesus to those who believe on His name
That those who TRUST in the redemption of His blood, are free of guilt & shame
That He PERSONALLY is preparing a “HOME” for ALL who are His…EVERYONE will be the same

A glorious ETERNAL HOME, we’ll never need to remodel or redecorate
And NOTHING in the future will ever make us have to relocate
All will KNOW the magnificent wonder the word HOME will generate

By now my engine was cooled, time to head back…back to big city ways
But silently I prayed for whoever lived here in by-gone days
And that MY children will have FOND memories when into the past THEY gaze

My spirits are lifted…memories of home have such a way of exciting
And the “prospect” of going HOME with Jesus is just plain delighting
Words of an old song come to mind…words that couldn’t be sweeter or more inviting

In memory I hear…Softly & tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you & for me
Come home, come home you who are weary, come home…wonderful, don’t you agree?
Gone will be the chains of trouble that bind us…In our new HOME we’ll ALL be set FREE!

Hi Judy, how are things in SD? I hope you are enjoying this time of the year and everything and everyone keep perking along in perfect health. Tell your Momma that I love the new Poem and sent it to my ex-husband. I don't do that very often but he needs to hear it and know.

Judy, I read your request for Child of the King and I am praying for her total restoration and perfect health to get back on that white horse and ride like the victor she is. Please give her my best and tell her that I love her and miss her fellowship.

Love you too,
Wilma (Grany who is also WJM)

Thanks for the great poem from your Mother! I love them all!

And please, tell a Child of the King, that I am joining in prayer for her health, along with everyone else.

Good to see you, and Sheila posting once again, too.

Love,

WAR!! By: Maxine M WE are at WAR!! Not just the one we see on television every night This is a SUBTLE war, so subtle perhaps we don't even realize we're in a fight Or who the enemy is, but BEWARE!, this enemy has weapons of powerful might The weapons of this enemy we face, have been around since time began This daily war is the war of that "Serpent of Old" verses man When Eve first saw him, she should have turned around and ran For she wasn't an equal match for this enemy's 'half-truths' and outright lies Gleefully, he thought he had won when he heard her labor's cry Thinking, NOW, against the rule of their Creator, all her offspring will defy But he's only won a battle, the full blown war was only about to start And it still rages today...the war for man's soul, mind and heart The stakes are HIGH, don't underestimate him, for he is cunning, wiley and smart Most "soldiers" just do what they have to do, b
OUR MISSION by: Maxine M Our Lord's last and great commission was...Spread the Gospel's Good News The good news that Christ died and rose again, so Salvation's way they could choose Choose to accept His love & forgiveness OR eternal separation ..if they refuse Now, we're not all in a position to leave home & family for a foreign land And in reality for some, this isn't what God had planned To reach those all around us, THIS was His purposed command So we all CAN accomplish "This Commission" right where we live each day By the things we do, the love we show, the words we say By being steadfast and vigilant...keeping in mind its Christ's image we are to convey Most don't have opportunity to go to seminary or learn Spanish, French or German Or are gifted to stand at a pulpit and give an eloquent sermon But we ALL can do SOMETHING to promote His name, as we so determine Maybe simply take meals to the elderly, offer a helping hand Little acts of
The Last Ride by: Maxine M (in dedication to a fellow Christian who lost his life) What a lovely day!! Riding in the fresh spring air, what a thrill A "bike" gives such freedom, lets you go wherever you will But, unknowingly, death waited at the top of the hill A careless moment & a poor decision...quickly a life can be lost Someone else's mistake, but the innocent paid the ultimate cost There was no going back, a line forever crossed Life ceased in an instant, leaving a young family and friends behind In that moment, the word "tragedy" was clearly defined Life's priorities for the survivors were dramatically realigned Two lives...one's soul now vanished and gone, the other now saddled with guilt One's dreams destroyed, the future he hoped could be built The threads of life unraveled!!, into pieces enough to make a patchwork quilt The other's life too, forever changed even if he doesn't realize it yet This scene will play over and over in
