THE UNKNOWN
By: Maxine M.

Ever stood in front of an unfamiliar door? What's on the other side? What does fate have in store?
Or stand at a crossroad you MUST travel knowing you've never been this way before?
Maybe alone on the ocean wondering where is the safety of the shore?

Perhaps you've had your sense of calm flee when a nurse relays that doctor's report
Those plans, dreams for the future will you have to abort?
The "UNKNOWN" conjures up fearful images of every sort

Have you suddenly lost a loved one...overcome with grief and shock?
A close relationship dissolved? One you considered solid as a rock?
Questions, uncertainty about the future abound? At your self-confidence they mock

We're comfortable with ordinary, customary; reject change and an unpleasant surprise
Unwelcomed are chaos, confusion, and calamity's cries
"ROUTINE" is shattered when with the UNKNOWN we have to compromise

Peter was familiar with WHERE to catch fish, but Jesus said "Cast out into the deep"
Go beyond the USUAL, you have a destiny in history to keep
David killed a lion during an unexpected attack on his father's sheep

For it's in the "UNKNOWN" that strength and resolve of Faith is tested
When with fear, doubt, mistrust our hearts are infested
We want life to be assured, absolute, fixed, settled, sure, vested

We're never really prepared for bad news...news that will change our life forever
Those times when our ability to "CONTINUE", life simply seems to sever
When tomorrow seems light years away and the UNKNOWN stops all we endeavor

When we experience first hand the feeling "How can we go on?"...OVERCOME the UNKNOWN
How can we cope?...when anxiety is full-blown
When words are totally inadequate, when our spirit can only pitifully mourn

But WAIT!! THINK, CONSIDER, we can all KNOW the One who DOES KNOW
The only One who can truly comfort, when life brings us low
Our rock and refuge when the winds of disaster blow

For He's never surprised or dismayed at a turn of events...as we are every day
Isn't He the One we should ask for guidance? Isn't He the One to whom we should pray?
All those fears of the UNKNOWN to Him we can readily convey

He can answer our questions, "What now? What's next? How much more?"
The One who can make the sun shine again...shine on our inner-core
Heal our hurts and heartache, open up new worlds for us to explore

So as you stand at the door marked "UNKNOWN", GRASP THE HANDLE by the Grace He's supplied
"KNOWING" that Jesus HIMSELF is waiting on the other side
CONFIDENT!! no matter our trouble HERE, for Eternity His children with Him will abide

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
