Hope in the Midst of Turmoil
By: Maxine M.

Turmoil!! Everywhere you turn, there’s turmoil & panic all across our land
Confusion over just WHERE, at this moment in time, do I really stand
Who can provide the answers this day & hour demands

Politicians & leaders give the SAME redundant speech day after day
All proclaiming, “Follow me, I have the solution…I know the way”
BUT when they falter & fail to deliver, it’s the PEOPLE who have to pay

So the worry CONTINUES, questions abound & go unanswered…what shall I do?
Is my job secure? I’ve heard the competition is laying off quite a few
Has the Market hit bottom? Those MIS-managers, I wish I could sue

Housing market & car dealerships in trouble…at losses their products are being sold
Building construction & expansion projects are now being put on hold
Banks are closing, there’s NO confidence in investing...the conclusion of those polled

Our enemies rejoice to see what they consider our financial collapse
But they don’t comprehend the American Spirit…how a true patriot adapts
That we as a Nation, CAN overcome all those material traps

We CAN do with LESS…concentrate on the important things FIRST
That we can survive now that inflated economic bubble has burst
We all need to work even harder…help the elderly who will suffer the worst

Let’s all STOP, go back to the foundations on which America was founded
Go Back!! Relearn the Godly principles in which our fore-fathers were grounded
APPRECIATE the “Liberty and Freedom for ALL”…as when the Liberty Bell 1st sounded

Not TODAY’S mentality that thinks ‘I’ve got MINE…guess you’re out of luck’
Leaders in powerful positions LINE THEIR POCKETS and the tax payer is stuck
In this “modern” era, there’s no accountability…personal responsibility they all try to duck

Let’s go back to days when, like our money, it could be said “In GOD We Trust”
When our entertainment was based on family values…not debauchery & lust
How to help a neighbor & how to SERVE the country was sincerely discussed

When God’s name was upheld & promoted in life’s daily walk
As a nation united, “God Bless America” was a common way to talk
‘Silent Night’ could be sung in school…a nativity scene could be displayed without a squawk

Back when our goal was to feed & shelter our family…put away a little for a rainy day
With thanksgiving, the Lord’s Share was given…the command to tithe, we willingly would obey
Investment was made in each other, “Be All You Can Be” we fought to convey

Return to days when Bulls and Bears were powerful animals, not a signal to buy or sell
When we actually PRAYED to our Creator to help us succeed & excel
When churches were for HIS praise and worship…the way of salvation was taught as well

So don’t get down on life even if those market accounts are depleted
Because the great blessings of America can still be repeated
IF we put God FIRST…on the throne of each life, He’s finally seated

If we as a nation would humbly, SINCERELY fall on our knees
Because He STILL longs to bless us…His ears STILL open to our pleas
For America’s future and indeed the entire world STILL happens as HE decrees

Now to His own, He reassures “Be Not Afraid”, I’ll go before you through the haze
Even in these troubling perilous times…through this world’s most unsettling phase
For YOU, My child, are never out from under My loving protective gaze

My children need not fret about what tomorrow may bring
Be it natural disaster, terrorist’s threat, loss of wealth or job…they still can joyfully sing
In the midst of chaos and mayhem they’re safe if, to My promises, they cling

Hi Judy,

I was going back through my pictures and saw you'd posted about our church's Living Nativity. I can't believe it's been a year since then. This weekend we are putting on our 2008 Living Nativity! I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I always love your mom's poem. So full of hope and trust in our wonderful, sovereign Lord.

Merry Christmas and God's richest blessings in 2009.

Love from Kathy

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
