Hope in the Midst of Turmoil
By: Maxine M.

Turmoil!! Everywhere you turn, there’s turmoil & panic all across our land
Confusion over just WHERE, at this moment in time, do I really stand
Who can provide the answers this day & hour demands

Politicians & leaders give the SAME redundant speech day after day
All proclaiming, “Follow me, I have the solution…I know the way”
BUT when they falter & fail to deliver, it’s the PEOPLE who have to pay

So the worry CONTINUES, questions abound & go unanswered…what shall I do?
Is my job secure? I’ve heard the competition is laying off quite a few
Has the Market hit bottom? Those MIS-managers, I wish I could sue

Housing market & car dealerships in trouble…at losses their products are being sold
Building construction & expansion projects are now being put on hold
Banks are closing, there’s NO confidence in investing...the conclusion of those polled

Our enemies rejoice to see what they consider our financial collapse
But they don’t comprehend the American Spirit…how a true patriot adapts
That we as a Nation, CAN overcome all those material traps

We CAN do with LESS…concentrate on the important things FIRST
That we can survive now that inflated economic bubble has burst
We all need to work even harder…help the elderly who will suffer the worst

Let’s all STOP, go back to the foundations on which America was founded
Go Back!! Relearn the Godly principles in which our fore-fathers were grounded
APPRECIATE the “Liberty and Freedom for ALL”…as when the Liberty Bell 1st sounded

Not TODAY’S mentality that thinks ‘I’ve got MINE…guess you’re out of luck’
Leaders in powerful positions LINE THEIR POCKETS and the tax payer is stuck
In this “modern” era, there’s no accountability…personal responsibility they all try to duck

Let’s go back to days when, like our money, it could be said “In GOD We Trust”
When our entertainment was based on family values…not debauchery & lust
How to help a neighbor & how to SERVE the country was sincerely discussed

When God’s name was upheld & promoted in life’s daily walk
As a nation united, “God Bless America” was a common way to talk
‘Silent Night’ could be sung in school…a nativity scene could be displayed without a squawk

Back when our goal was to feed & shelter our family…put away a little for a rainy day
With thanksgiving, the Lord’s Share was given…the command to tithe, we willingly would obey
Investment was made in each other, “Be All You Can Be” we fought to convey

Return to days when Bulls and Bears were powerful animals, not a signal to buy or sell
When we actually PRAYED to our Creator to help us succeed & excel
When churches were for HIS praise and worship…the way of salvation was taught as well

So don’t get down on life even if those market accounts are depleted
Because the great blessings of America can still be repeated
IF we put God FIRST…on the throne of each life, He’s finally seated

If we as a nation would humbly, SINCERELY fall on our knees
Because He STILL longs to bless us…His ears STILL open to our pleas
For America’s future and indeed the entire world STILL happens as HE decrees

Now to His own, He reassures “Be Not Afraid”, I’ll go before you through the haze
Even in these troubling perilous times…through this world’s most unsettling phase
For YOU, My child, are never out from under My loving protective gaze

My children need not fret about what tomorrow may bring
Be it natural disaster, terrorist’s threat, loss of wealth or job…they still can joyfully sing
In the midst of chaos and mayhem they’re safe if, to My promises, they cling

Hi Judy,

I was going back through my pictures and saw you'd posted about our church's Living Nativity. I can't believe it's been a year since then. This weekend we are putting on our 2008 Living Nativity! I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I always love your mom's poem. So full of hope and trust in our wonderful, sovereign Lord.

Merry Christmas and God's richest blessings in 2009.

Love from Kathy

WAR!! By: Maxine M WE are at WAR!! Not just the one we see on television every night This is a SUBTLE war, so subtle perhaps we don't even realize we're in a fight Or who the enemy is, but BEWARE!, this enemy has weapons of powerful might The weapons of this enemy we face, have been around since time began This daily war is the war of that "Serpent of Old" verses man When Eve first saw him, she should have turned around and ran For she wasn't an equal match for this enemy's 'half-truths' and outright lies Gleefully, he thought he had won when he heard her labor's cry Thinking, NOW, against the rule of their Creator, all her offspring will defy But he's only won a battle, the full blown war was only about to start And it still rages today...the war for man's soul, mind and heart The stakes are HIGH, don't underestimate him, for he is cunning, wiley and smart Most "soldiers" just do what they have to do, b...
The Last Ride by: Maxine M (in dedication to a fellow Christian who lost his life) What a lovely day!! Riding in the fresh spring air, what a thrill A "bike" gives such freedom, lets you go wherever you will But, unknowingly, death waited at the top of the hill A careless moment & a poor decision...quickly a life can be lost Someone else's mistake, but the innocent paid the ultimate cost There was no going back, a line forever crossed Life ceased in an instant, leaving a young family and friends behind In that moment, the word "tragedy" was clearly defined Life's priorities for the survivors were dramatically realigned Two lives...one's soul now vanished and gone, the other now saddled with guilt One's dreams destroyed, the future he hoped could be built The threads of life unraveled!!, into pieces enough to make a patchwork quilt The other's life too, forever changed even if he doesn't realize it yet This scene will play over and over in...
Hope vs. Certainty by: Maxine M Hope: Webster defines as the feeling of what we want will happen, our desire we'll see Also as the person or thing from which this expectation will come to be Now each person's hope varies to an individual degree Certainty: fixed, settled, sure, positive....that which we can not doubt Thy Word, oh Lord, forever settled in Heaven!!, a certainty we can shout North is always north, truth is always true...not matter what else comes about Mary and Martha HOPED Jesus would come, so brother Lazarus wouldn't have to die Disappointed & let down...tears of sorrow they would cry But the CERTAINTY was, Jesus IS the Lord of Life, death's victory He could deny The disciples HOPED the Messiah would free them from Roman domination, in their day That Israel would be exaulted...all enemies made to pay The CERTAINTY was, He came to free us from sin, Salvation had just come their way David clung to HOPE, that God would relent...his child He would spare...
