OUR MISSION
by: Maxine M

Our Lord's last and great commission was...Spread the Gospel's Good News
The good news that Christ died and rose again, so Salvation's way they could choose
Choose to accept His love & forgiveness OR eternal separation ..if they refuse

Now, we're not all in a position to leave home & family for a foreign land
And in reality for some, this isn't what God had planned
To reach those all around us, THIS was His purposed command

So we all CAN accomplish "This Commission" right where we live each day
By the things we do, the love we show, the words we say
By being steadfast and vigilant...keeping in mind its Christ's image we are to convey

Most don't have opportunity to go to seminary or learn Spanish, French or German
Or are gifted to stand at a pulpit and give an eloquent sermon
But we ALL can do SOMETHING to promote His name, as we so determine

Maybe simply take meals to the elderly, offer a helping hand
Little acts of kindness...need not always be something big and grand
But if done in the love of Christ, His message will expand

Foreign natives are not drawn to Christ only by the missionary's words he speaks
But also by necessary aid, the relief they desperately seek
Help for those whose past, present & future is terribly bleak

God's work doesn't require a dynamic personality, excellent speech, or one who is intellectually "smart"
He can use even meager talents, when willingly offered from the heart
He sees our "Missionary Potential" before we even start

We can all be an encourager when disappointment & dispair take a toll
Paul, on the mission field, was grateful for those who "refreshed" his soul
So perhaps being a "Prayer Warrior" is your God given role

Flies are attracted to honey instead of vinegar, an old proverb states
Fish are lured and caught, when hooks have attractive baits
So a joyful and winsome attitude may bring some to Jesus & the Heaven that waits

Try smiling at a stranger, see their spirit lift
Pat someone on the back and say "Good Job!"..better than an expensive gift
Tell an employee, "You're tired, let me finish your shift!"

It's bible study night, invite your neighbor to go along
You know the WORD is able to pull him from the unbelieving throng
To change his life and put him on the narrow path, where we all belong

Crisis hit your life? Be strong!
Your unsaved friend may wonder, How do they have that inner-peace..that for which I long?
There just might be an opportunity to share the resurrection story & salvation's song

There is literature, books, and Gospel tracts to be mailed or handed out
Telling the world what Jesus and Christianity is really all about
Even if only one seed grows, the angels will rejoice...Hallelujah shout!!

So plant seeds of faith and pray for a bountiful yield
Take advantage of whatever influence you may wield
To spread the Gospel, HERE, on your own personal mission field

Judy and Maxine,

Great, just great! We could sure use this one on Joel's blog.

They are cutting people they don't even know. Some soul-winners they are going to be.

This poem is very needed for many reasons. We need to be reminded that wherever we find ourselves is a mission field.

And reflecting our Indwelling Christ, should always be happening too.

I love the poem. Tell Maxine I said so.

Love you all.

Judy,
Wow! (I use that word a lot these days, don't I, LOL) VERY GOOD! And like, child of the King said, so very needed in today's world!

My Grandmother was President of her Chapter of the WCTU. (if you don't know what that is.....it isn't important, what it stands for, but just know she was a very consecrated Christian woman :)
AND, she was REALLY into Home Missions, as well! It's something, the "old timers,' were into a LOT! And something we desperately need to see, in action, in today's world, as well!

Thanks, and love to you, and your mom!

Judy,

Thanks so much for the interest. God is really starting to move in the planning for this year. As I've mentioned many times in the past, we always pray that at least one life is changed for Christ each year. But also please pray for myself and my friend Paul (the other founder), as a lot of the planning and work falls on us and we need to be mounted up on wings like eagles and be able to run and not grow weary. We both have full time jobs, young kids, and wives that get frusterated with us from time to time as the festival day approaches. But we know God is in control and would never give us more than we can handle as long as we are in his will.

Anyway, we should be launching a new website in the next week or two with all the new band, volunteer and sponsorship information, but if you go to www.awakeningfest.com and click on the 'contact' page, the information there will not change.

I really enjoyed the poem. It got me from behind the screen and typing a comment for the first time in a while. God Bless.

Mike
Judy,

I've written this for the third time now if I don't lose this post. I was starting to think I wasn't supposed to write you.

Thanks for your prayers and support and understanding re: work situation.

My Hubby, started his business 10 years ago and sold it 2 years ago to a 50+ million dollar company. He became an SVP and earned a nice salary(travelled ALOT). Then in Dec. he left when he learned they had no intention of letting him 'cash out' his stock for his business. He started a new business and it has been going o.k. Hopefully soon he will be making a salary....we have been living on savings.

I know the job would improve our relationship. He's definitely feeling like the cheese standing alone. I just get so hung on being a good mother with everything the kids are all going through. I've been praying if its His will, that the right job will present itself with hours that I won't be away from home too much.

I've been having a hard time talking about all of this. So thanks for letting me bend your ear. And tell your Mom how much we love and appreciate her for all of the inspiring poetry!

Love, Sue

Judy,
I left a message for you on my Blog, and no worries, about not checking your own Blog, either :)
(I plead guilty to the same charge, LOL)

Sue,
You've been thru so much in the last couple of monthes! My goodness! However, I'll agree, with you, and Judy, about finding the right part time job, 'if' that's God's will for you at the present moment.

I would caution you, though, that one person can only take so much stress, etc. And your children need a Mother available, and also Lisa's son. And I know you know that, as that's a huge concern, and it must be weighing you down, considerably. And for that, I'm so sorry, because you need to be in a 'healing' state of mind and body, now, and not one of additional stress......in my opinion. Also remember that God can change circumstances.....suddenly :) How about you go post over to, child of the King's Blog, and ask for prayer, about God blessing your husband's and your business, so that you can stay home, and take care of yourself, (smile, and a BIG smile there, too! One of much love!) and also your children, home, family and such?

Anyway, there is only a slight degree in the difference in Ministry, and (often) trying to 'Meddle' in another's private business. And please, forgive me if I've crossed the line, okay? Because my motive is one of love and concern for you, and your family.

Love to Judy and you!

And may God grant our every prayer, as we seek Him, and His will!

Judy,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I had to travel for work up to the NYC area. I am an architectural engineer - which basically means I figure out how to make buildings stand up. The east coast still seems to be booming no matter what the media says about the economy.

Anyway, I love the idea of buying tickets for others to use. We have been able to make a few contacts with organizations that involve weekend programs of bussing some inner city or low means children out to church. We discussed after last year of getting them involved in bussing kids to the Awakening. One problem that arose this year was the facility that we rent wants to limit the number of free tickets that we give away. Understandable, since they need to make money too. But that would be a great solution to that problem. There may be many others that can't attend, but want someone else to go that otherwise couldn't. We could have a buy a ticket for someone less fortunate section on the website or something like that (obviously just thinking and typing at the same time). I know we don't have ticket sales yet, but that should be coming on line early next month. I'll keep everyone posted.

God Bless.

Judy,

Thanks so much for your comments on Child's blog. I sooo remember "I've fallen, and I can't get up!" hysterical. Your comment about the 3 guys in the furnace hit home with me. I've been really burdened by some "strongholds" in my life, and one friend reminded me that the only thing those guys left without was their shackles. Praise God! I am praying I find out soon too, my imagination is worse than almost anything. Please keep in touch, so great to have sisters who care.

Love,
Kacey
