Be Sure
By: Maxine M.

‘Life is short, live for the moment!’ This is what the “world” has to say
Go ahead!! Give in to every indulgence & addiction…be happy, carefree & gay
When you are old, THEN you can find God…take time to pray

Forgetting we are “frail”, created only from dust
Created as a temple of God…NOT designed for debauchery & lust
Fame and fortune can’t save you, if that’s where you put your trust

So what if you died TONIGHT?
Suddenly awake in Judgement’s light
Consider!!, what would be your plight
What would happen if YOU died tonight?

You’re getting home late…your spouse says the children are already asleep
A gentle good-night kiss, then remembering the vows you said you would keep
You realize the heartache and the tears they would weep

If they knew you WEREN’T working late like you said
But just came from the arms of another instead
Does the mere thought of them knowing fill you with dread?

But what if you died TONIGHT?
Suddenly awake in Judgement’s light
Consider!!, what would be your plight
What would happen if YOU died tonight?

You were put in charge of the company’s finances just last year
Then a “personal emergency” FORCED you to “borrow” strictly out of fear
But now it’s become a way of life it would appear

JUSTIFICATION says, ‘they have so much, they’ll never miss the little I take’
Change a few numbers on a report…only you will know the profit line is fake
After all, you’re doing it for your family’s sake

But what if you died TONIGHT?
Suddenly awake in Judgement’s light
Consider!!, what would be your plight
What would happen if YOU died tonight?

“I’ll NEVER FORGIVE them!”, you angrily declare
What they did was WRONG!!, unacceptable, dishonest and totally unfair
Suddenly YOUR shoulders are stooped under the heavy burden you now bare

You know the bible states we MUST forgive…that’s a direct fact
But forgiving just isn’t the natural way YOU act
And you still have your righteous PRIDE intact

But what if you died TONIGHT?
Suddenly awake in Judgement’s light
Consider!!, what would be your plight
What would happen if YOU died tonight?

You sit in a church pew, but have you TRULY accepted God’s Son?
Turned over your LIFE to Him or have you evaded His face…from His embrace run?
Reasoning, what about those “good” things I’ve done?

Won’t they be enough to help me get in?
Pride says, “I’m just as good as OTHER men”
But isn’t it true, only HIS BLOOD can wash away sin?

But what if you died TONIGHT?
Suddenly awake in Judgement’s light
Consider!!, what would be your plight
What would happen if YOU died tonight?

Now these questions NEED an answer BEFORE death would occur
Know & learn how to have an affirmative answer…be perfectly sure
So it’s to the Sweet Old Gospel Story, to which we can refer

For it tells us how on the cross, full payment for OUR sins Jesus would bestow
All we need to do is ACCEPT, BELIEVE, CALL on His name…REPENTANCE show
The miracle of Salvation will bring this answer with a sure confident glow

I KNOW if I died TONIGHT
Suddenly I’d awake in Heaven’s Glorious light
No longer have to ponder my plight
I’d be with JESUS if I died tonight

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
