How Does the Story End?
By: Maxine M.

The children squirmed in excitement and anticipation as the story was read
What would be the eventual outcome…would the hero & heroine wed?
Or would the ending be woefully tragic instead?

Would the puppy find his way back home again?
How would the heroine manage competing in a world run by men?
Would the disabled athlete recover…go on once again to win?

How will the soldier be treated when war is over & he’s returned?
So we’re kept in suspense till the final chapter is discerned
Sometimes the end is PREDICTABLE, but often a surprise is learned

Because stories may start out light & happy…joy and hope in place
But in the end the main character succumbs to life’s problems…loses his race
Or perhaps he’s born in poverty or handicapped and prevails against the odds he’s forced to face

Now isn’t it TRUE that EVERY life is a “STORY” in itself…a total complete book
With more twists and turns than any fiction on the shelf…if only we would look
A Story written line by line everyday…just flowing along like a winding brook

We hold the pen…the “story” scripted by the choices we make
It contains our victories & failures, moments of joy or devastating heartache
But the “mystery” of its CONCLUSION may keep us alert & awake

For often, by the people & situations in this novel called LIFE, suspense will grow
Circumstance beyond our control, on every page will eventually show
And like those restless children, HOW will the story end?...even we CANNOT know

Now the question IS…Will the final chapter be written when a heart stops beating?
Is the book then CLOSED? Put back on the shelf…back to dust retreating?
For in relation to TIME, EVERY life no matter how long, is at best short & fleeting

The TRUTH is, for every “story” written, a consequential “SEQUEL” WILL occur
A CONTINUATION of our eternal soul, depending on whose leadership YOU choose to prefer
Because that final mortal chapter may come suddenly…be a total blur

But that final eternal SEQUEL is written entirely by YOUR choice
A choice to accept Jesus & in Heaven LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH & REJOICE
Or dwell in an ever burning lake of fire…hopelessly crying out with tormented voice

So check the pages of your Story…was there ever a time along the way
When you DEFINITELY DECIDED to come to Jesus…to follow ALL His Word would convey
Not just strict church attendance…MAN’S rules & regulations strictly obey

But by GENUINE REPENTANCE from ALL that separates us from Salvation’s light
For the Father will never reject a heart that’s truly broken & contrite
So it can be a wonderful sequel that we ALL CAN write

Mother's Day by: Maxine M. (this is cute) Our first parents lived in a paradise of ease Their original days were without toil, doing as they pleased Enjoying God's garden of bountiful, fruitful trees There was nothing to fear, as all the animals were tame As they came one by one for Adam to name The perfect marriage, there was no one else to blame The ideal life, but one thing they both never knew Was the loving touch of a Mother, as not from childhood they grew Of that special bond from child to Mother, they had no clue A Mother hadn't warned, "Don't talk to that snake" "He's not what he seems, he's a phony and a fake" "If you listen to him, it will bring sorrow and heartache" So Eve raised her children without Mother's advice Labor pains and discomfort were disobedience's price A Mother certainly would have made her think twice When the question "why do it this way?" came around She couldn't reply, "It...
Childlike Faith By: Maxine M. A short time ago, a long-time politician was laid to rest The last of the patriotic brothers…in America, their lives they’d invest People lined the streets expressing grief, paying tribute & honor with considerable zest A crowd gathered on the Capital’s steps engrossed in this somber affair But did you notice the small children quietly playing without a care? Just having fun, making faces at each other while parents were unaware Wiggling & anxious to be on with life…shed those “good” clothes that must stay clean Unconcerned what “Teddy’s” passing would bring to the political scene Confident & trusting their parents would keep life safe & serene For children are children in spite of color, nationality or religious creed Where prejudice hasn’t been formed, childlike acceptance will intercede They’re refreshingly innocent…not yet carrying our burden of ‘will I succeed’ T...
WHAT DID JESUS SEE? by Maxine M. The world saw Peter as an unlearned fisherman, nothing special at all Simply mending his nets, hoping today would yield a big haul BUT what did Jesus see? He saw the one whom He'd call "The Rock" The one to found His Church, the leader of His flock The world saw Levi as a dreaded tax collector Lowest of the low, a traitor, considered a Roman defector BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Matthew with a loyal heart, faithful and true Knew he would be useful in the ministry he was to do The world saw the Pharisees as superior, righteous, ceremoniously clean Loving to stand in public, praying just to be seen BUT what did Jesus see? He saw them as hypocrites, fools, blind guides Saw them as well-polished tombs, but inside rottenness hides The world saw Saul as an enthusiastic, young Pharisee filled with zeal Persecuting new Christians, their newly found joy to steal BUT what did Jesus see? He saw him as Paul, a specially chosen vessel, a sinne...
