What’s YOUR Future?

The Future!! What will happen beyond today? What events will come to be?
Is it a fearful prospect…for the world is quickly falling into disorder, we can all agree
Chaos reigns throughout the world…turmoil everywhere we can see

Financial institutions have failed…economy shaken to it’s very core
Prices on everything have risen to astronomical highs no one can ignore
Storms arise one after another to buffet everything along the coastline’s shore

Soon the nation will choose a new leader…which one is right?
Will our relationship with Israel stay faithful, genuinely tight?
Those nations that HATE us, will they attack us some fateful night?

Will we ever break that “yoke of dependency” of foreign oil?
Do terrorists have new plans for killing us on our very own soil?
The battles over abortion and gay marriage never cease to boil

Fires rage, threatening homes & property all across the land
Violence in our homes, murder, abuse, injustice…totally out of hand
Broken families, devastating disease…so many situations we don’t understand

Thus everyday UNCERTAINTY floods our minds…more and more questions also arise
Questions of how can I handle today’s stressful LOWS…where are the highs?
When will the “experts” resolve our energy crisis? Is there anyone who REALLY tries?

Will MY job be there tomorrow? Will retirement be an option in MY later years?
How will I educate my children? Where can I turn to calm my fears?
Should I believe all those “doom & gloom” rumors that fill my ears?

Are the children SAFE in their schools? You can’t be certain anymore
When will PEACE prevail…nations finally stop resorting to horrors of war
What if MY health fails? Who will take care of me? What DOES lie in store?

Where’s the stability…the safe assurance we all seek?
Everything around us is shaky at best…uncertain & bleak
So, has YOUR basis of trust faltered & become unsteady this week?

The rich who trust their riches, the athletes trust their strength, ability & power
The scholar their facts & knowledge, the soldier his bravery in his decisive hour
The love and strength of “FAMILY”…have these foundations gone sour?

So when you really consider the FUTURE, do you find a disconnecting jumble?
Does the lack of clarity about tomorrow fill you with dread & leave you humble?
The inability to CONTROL ALL circumstances make your confidence crumble?

But the GOOD NEWS is in the midst of the bewilderment these troublesome days can bring
There is ONE strong, firm, unmovable, unchangeable PILLAR to which we can cling
Our LONG-TERM eternal future CAN be ASSURED by trusting Christ our King

For He promises, for those who believe & accept His “GIFT”, a wonderful Heaven awaits
Then in the presence of our SAVIOUR, those troubles, worries & tears will finally abate
Only joy, peace and gladness will abound INSIDE those Pearly Gates

We’ll be restored to the righteous relationship with the Father we had before man fell
Now those who DON’T accept Him, have an assured future as well
Judged by the KING at the Great White Throne…sentenced forever to the total darkness of Hell

A future of SEPERATION from their soul’s Creator…eternal torment
No further appeals or pardons, just a “never ending” existence in the place they’ve been sent
All BECAUSE they CHOSE to live life their way…refused to repent

So perhaps it’s uncertain what our future on earth will be in the days ahead
For we can only regulate & manage relative small details in this life we’ve led
BUT, by our DECISION now, we CAN BE CERTAIN which destination’s place we’ll tread
